Installing a New WordPress Theme

A WordPress theme controls the visual design and layout of your website. You can choose from thousands of free and premium themes to find the perfect look for your site. Follow these steps to install a new theme.

Installing from the WordPress Theme Directory

The easiest way to add a new theme is by browsing the official WordPress.org theme directory directly from your dashboard.

  1. Log in to your WordPress dashboard.
  2. Navigate to Appearance > Themes from the left-hand menu.
  3. Click the Add New button at the top of the page.
  4. You can browse the available themes or use the search bar to find a specific one by name or feature.
  5. When you find a theme you like, hover over it and click the Install button.
  6. After the installation is complete, click the Activate button to apply the theme to your website.

Uploading a Theme Manually

If you have a theme from a third-party source (e.g., a premium theme), it will usually be in a .zip file. You can upload it directly.

  1. From your WordPress dashboard, go to Appearance > Themes.
  2. Click the Add New button, then click the Upload Theme button.
  3. Click Choose File and select the theme's .zip file from your computer.
  4. Click Install Now. WordPress will upload and install the theme for you.
  5. Once the installation is successful, click the Activate link to make the theme live.

Installing a WordPress Plugin

Plugins are tools that add new features and functionality to your WordPress site, such as contact forms, SEO optimization, or image galleries.

Editing a Page in WordPress

Keeping your website's content fresh and up-to-date is simple. Here’s how you can edit your existing pages.

  1. Log in to your WordPress dashboard.
  2. From the left-hand menu, click on Pages to view a list of all your pages.
  3. Hover your mouse over the title of the page you want to edit. A set of options will appear.
  4. Click the Edit link to open the page in the WordPress editor.
  5. You can now modify the text, add or remove images, and change the layout using the editor. Whether you're using the modern Block Editor or the Classic Editor, you can easily update your content.
  6. After making your changes, click the Update button (usually located in the top-right corner) to save your work. Your changes will now be live on your site.
